Narrow to thread margins. Crossbow in a circle watermark. Good impressions of these scarce engravings, which together form a frieze-like composition.

Petit in-4 oblong [106 x 156 mm] de 19 ff., 13 planches [A-D4, E3]: maroquin citron, armoiries dorées au centre des plats, dos à nerfs avec chiffres dorés répétés, pièce de titre rouge et verte, filet sur les coupes, large dentelle intérieure, tranches dorées (Lortic).
Édition originale.
Ce remarquable traité consacré aux pratiques funéraires antiques est l'oeuvre du “pourtrayeur & tailleur d'histoires” lorrain Pierre Woeiriot (1532-1599).
Le premier beau livre français orné de figures gravées sur cuivre.

Condition : On laid paper with watermark lily in a circle with a crown. trimmed without loss of image on the plate edge. Slightly stained. A minimal, smoothed, longitudinal fold. At the edges partly a bit wrinkled. In the upper right corner a stored tear of 1 cm. To the right, another minor edge damage.
