On laid paper, watermark Ladder in Circle with Star (similar to Briquet 5919, but with a star, 1519), a very fine impression of Robert-Dumesnil's first state (of three), printing with plate tone and many wiping marks, the guidelines very distinct, with small margins, a central horizontal crease across the width of the sheet, partially split and repaired, some soft creasing, occasional pale stains, generally in good condition

Lot n° 15 - D'après Michelangelo Buonarroti circa 1540-65, on laid paper, watermark Eagle in a Single Circle under Crown (similar to Briquet 209, Verona 1582-96), a good impression, printing a little dryly along the upper and right edges, trimmed to or fractionally into the subject, a repaired tear at the lower sheet edge to the right and another, shorter tear to the left, otherwise in good condition

circa 1540-66, on laid paper, watermark Fleur-de-Lys with Stamen in Circle (similar to Briquet 7317; Rome, 1566-75), a very good impression of this rare print, trimmed on or just inside the platemark, a small made-up paper loss at the upper right sheet corner, another at the left sheet edge, some very minor, scattered pinpoint foxing, generally in very good condition

circa 1540-1565, on laid paper, watermark Fleur-de-Lys in Circle, a very good impression of the first state (of two), published by Antonio Lafreri, Rome, with his address, trimmed on or just inside the platemark, retaining a fillet of blank paper outside the borderline, some minor defects at the sheet edges, a repaired curved tear and small hole at the lower left sheet corner, the tips of the upper and lower right sheet corners made up, a small made-up paper loss at lower centre
Suite complète et en premier état (sauf le titre en troisième état) de 41 planches gravées sur cuivre majoritairement par Jacques Callot.
"41 tavole compreso il titolo, sono di Gio. Callot e rarissime a trovarsi [...]" Cicognara, 2060.
Le présent exemplaire est parfaitement conforme au premier état décrit ci-dessous par Edouard Meaume in Recherches sur la vie et les ouvrages de Jacques Callot, 261-301.

Kupferstich auf Bütten mit Wasserzeichen Turm im Kreis mit Stern, bei A. Salamanca. Blattgröße 30,5-7 x 42,5-43 cm. Bartsch 41; Robert-Dumesnil 32. Provenienz: Verso mit Sammlerstempel Josef Grünling (Lugt 1463).
Teils stärkere Alters- und Montagespuren; Innerhalb der Platte beschnitten, komplett angerändert, Einfassungslinie ergänzt sowie Ergänzung im linken Bereich der Darstellung, stellenweise angeschmutzt. Ränder unregelmäßig angesetzt und gebräunt.

Da un disegno di Michelangelo attualmente nella Royal Collection e databile attorno al 1530. Sulla lastra, in basso a sinistra "Mich. Ang / Bonaroti. Inv." ed all'estrema destra "Ant. Lafreri Romae". Bellissima impressione su sottile carta vergellata con filigrana "agnello pasquale con stendardo", Woodward 49 (1566, Roma e Venezia).

Foglio: mm 445x323. Bartsch, 17 (copia A). Sul gradino del pozzo "Horatius Pacificus Formis", in basso a sinistra "A.L.F" (Antonii Lafrerii Formis) e a destra "Romae apud Carolum Losi 1774". Copia in controparte da un'incisione del Beatricetto su soggetto di Michelangelo. Bella prova su carta vergellata pesante con filigrana "fiore di giglio in doppio cerchio con lettere CB".
